UC Davis Police Arrest Six Animal Activists

Six animal activists were arrested about noon today, June 12, during a protest at the California Regional Primate Research Center at the University of California, Davis. Lt. Bruce Naliboff of the UC Davis Police Department said about 15 protesters with the Primate Freedom Tour were marching in a circle on the driveway of the research center shortly before noon. Police arrested Crescent Vellucci, 50, of Sacramento and Geoff Dervishian, 21, (no hometown given) each on a charge of violating a court order to stay off UC Davis property. Naliboff said police issued an order to disperse and then arrested four other protesters: o Lisa Lakeman, 44, no hometown given -- blocking a roadway; unlawful assembly; and resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer; o Sheila Laracy, 52, of Sacramento -- blocking a roadway and unlawful assembly; o Andrea Lindsey, 20, no hometown given -- blocking a roadway; unlawful assembly; and resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer; and o Joshua Trenter, 23, no hometown given -- blocking a roadway; unlawful assembly; and resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer. All six were taken to Yolo County Jail.
