UC Davis Police Officers Read at Sacramento Schools

What: Eight police officers from UC Davis are volunteering their time to be part of the "Read Across America" program as schools celebrate the birthday of author Dr. Seuss. They will visit five elementary school in Sacramento, where they will be reading to children. When: Friday, March 2 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: James Marshall 9525 Goethe Road 10 a.m. John Bidwell 1730 65th St. 10:45 a.m. Tahoe Elementary 3110 60th St. 11 a.m. David Lubin 3535 M St. 12:45 p.m. Visuals: Police officers will read Dr. Seuss books in a classroom setting with kids ranging in age from 5 to 11. Background: The National Education Association is calling for every child in every school to celebrate reading March 2, Dr. Seuss' 95th birthday. Dr. Seuss books use rhyme as an effective tool for teaching young children how to read.
