What: Eight police officers from UC Davis are volunteering their time to be part of the "Read Across America" program as schools celebrate the birthday of author Dr. Seuss. They will visit five elementary school in Sacramento, where they will be reading to children. Background: The National Education Association is calling for every child in every school to celebrate reading March 2, Dr. Seuss' 95th birthday. Dr. Seuss books use rhyme as an effective tool for teaching young children how to read.
