UC Davis Police Seek Help From Public in Wieman Death Investigation

What: UC Davis police will release more details in the ongoing investigation of the death of student Andrew Wieman in his campus fraternity room. This will include additional findings from studies of evidence found at the scene, as well as transcripts and audio of the 911 tape of the initial call to police dispatchers. The department will also distribute a picture of Wieman, asking for assistance from the public in determining Wieman's whereabouts prior to his death. Background: The body of Andrew Wieman, 20, was discovered in the bedroom of his Kappa Sigma fraternity house on Thursday, Jan. 4, by students concerned that he had not appeared at the first day of classes. The Yolo County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be stab wounds to the neck and chest. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by both the coroner's office and UC Davis police to determine the manner in which the wounds were inflicted. Directions: Take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive exit. Travel east toward main campus, crossing La Rue Drive. Turn left on Klieber Hall Drive, in front of the Life Science Building. The police and fire departments are on the left, and there is an adjacent parking lot. Media can always park free on the UC Davis campus in any nonreserved parking space.
