UC Davis Professor Turner in PBS Program on TV Blacks

Patricia Turner, an assistant professor of African American Studies at the University of California, Davis, will appear in a documentary movie examining the images of blacks on television on Monday, June 15. "Color Adjustment: Blacks in Prime Time" is part of the Public Broadcasting System series "Point of View." It will be broadcast at 10 p.m. by KVIE Channel 6, the Sacramento affiliate of PBS. Turner served as a scholarly consultant for the movie. Directed by Marlon Riggs, "Color Adjustment" traces the depiction of black characters from the first programs that featured them, such as "Amos 'n' Andy" and "Beulah," to more recent shows such as "Frank's Place" and "The Cosby Show."
