What: It won't be a pop quiz that takes 140 UC Davis students by surprise in their Tuesday class. Instead, the students will be the first to officially discover that their professor is the recipient of the annual $30,000 UC Davis Prize for Undergraduate Teaching and Scholarly Achievement.
When: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16
Where: Room 2 in Wellman Hall, UC Davis
Visuals: UC Davis Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Bob Grey will interrupt this last-class-before-finals lecture by rolling a large cake into the lecture hall and announcing the prize. He will enter the lecture hall directly from the lower patio area on the west side of the building. Also making brief remarks will be the recipient's dean and a representative from the UC Davis Foundation.
Directions: From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel, cross First Street and continue on E Street. At Fifth Street or Russell Boulevard, turn left. At Howard Way, turn left and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. Once you're through the gate, turn right on North Quad Road and left at California Avenue. Parking has been reserved in the first courtyard on the left, between Wickson and Kerr halls. Reporters in unmarked vehicles should place a business card on the dashboards of their cars. Wellman Hall is a short walk to the southeast.
