UC Davis Student Art to be Exhibited in Memorial Union Show

Exhibit Title: UC Davis Student Art Show Dates: May 9-26 Where: Memorial Union Art Gallery Second floor, Memorial Union University of California, Davis Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday Reception: 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 9 Traditional fine arts, including paintings, sculptures, photography and print-making, as well as digital images, computer-generated video and video sculpture will be displayed during the sixth annual UC Davis Student Art Show sponsored by the Memorial Union Art Gallery. The show is a juried, open competition for all enrolled UC Davis students in the 1993-1994 academic year. The juror for this year's competition was Theresa Harlan, assistant curator of the C.N. Gorman Museum in Hart Hall at UC Davis. Twenty-nine entries from 16 undergraduates were selected for the show. The MU Gallery will buy certain student pieces in the show. In addition, several Davis businesses and campus services have generously donated gift certificates and merchandise to be awarded to the students. Supporters include the Davis Food Co-op, Chris Fuller Paints, Hibbert Lumber, the UC Davis Bookstore's art department and the UC Davis Craft Center. The Memorial Union Art Gallery is wheelchair accessible. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
