The National Youth Sports Program Committee has selected UC Davis as a meritorious program for outstanding project performance in 1996. Al Beaird, sports camp director for Intercollegiate Athletics, and Sharon King, volleyball coach in the exercise science department, were acknowledged for their outstanding leadership in the UC Davis program. Of the 175 universities and colleges across the nation that hosted the youth programs in 1996, meritorious recognition was awarded to only the top 25 programs.
