Understanding The Tax Language Of the IRS

Do you purposely not prepare your own tax form because it's too painful and too difficult to understand those specialized terms used by accountants and the Internal Revenue Service? Now help is available, says Michael Maher, an accounting professor at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and a collaborator on a new book, "Accounting: The Language of Business." The book was designed to help accountants be more consistent with terms they use and to help business professionals understand the language that accountants speak, according to Maher. In addition to providing a detailed glossary of accounting terms, the book is an authoritative guide for professional financial officers and for consumers who are making their annual visit to the accountant at tax time.
