UC Davis-based UC Agricultural Issues Center will hold a daylong
public conference examining the conflicts arising where urban
areas are pressing into California's farmland. Speakers will focus
on agricultural technologies, management practices and land-use

• Agricultural Uses for Biosolids Conference -- Jan. 29-30,
Sacramento. Potential uses of sewage sludge or "biosolids" in
agriculture will be discussed by agriculturists, academics and
representatives of regulatory, environmental and wastewater
treatment agencies. Topics will include crop and soil responses;
legal, liability and economic issues; and practical experiences with
biosolids. The conference is co-sponsored by the UC Davis-based
UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program.
