U.S. Department of Agriculture Recognizes Specialist for Work with Horses

The United States Department of Agriculture Certificate of Appreciation has been issued to Carolyn Stull, Veterinary Medicine Extension specialist at UC Davis for agricultural animal welfare issues. Stull was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the success of public forums held in several states this year for the Horse Protection Program. The federal program protects horses against the illegal application of any chemical or mechanical agent to any limb of a horse expected to cause physical pain or distress during motion. The "soring" of horses, related primarily to Tennessee walking horses and related breeds, is used to produce an exaggerated gait.
