Wildlife Medicine Symposium Set for Jan. 20

Topics from anesthetizing antelope in the field to parasites of stranded whales are on the program for the Jan. 20 Wildlife Medicine Symposium at UC Davis. Hosted annually by the student Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Medicine Club of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, the symposium is designed to teach current students and practicing veterinarians. Besides the sessions on antelope and marine mammals, this year's program includes discussions of sea otters; reproduction in elephants; the veterinarian's role in wildlife management; and the interface between wildlife and domestic animals. The program takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in 170 Schalm Hall, in the UC Davis Medical Sciences Complex. Symposium sponsors include the UC Davis Wildlife Health Center, the Humane Society of the United States, W.B. Saunders Co., the American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians, Target Stores and Purina.
