Gunrock Gaming is inviting the campus community to play more than two dozen titles on its high-end computers for free to celebrate an upgrade that makes maintenance and updates easier on staff.
The 14 computers are now connected to a system that automatically updates games, said Janna Tolla, director of student unions. She said it replaces the process of having student employees run updates manually.

“Despite our best efforts, customers would often sit down to play and find that their game needed an update before playing, or if they played, it wouldn't have the latest bug fixes or in-game add-ons — a super frustrating experience for our customers,” Tolla said, adding that games will now automatically get new features when they’re released by developers, as well as updates to fix problems with the titles.
“This obviously makes it a better customer experience.”
Tolla said Gunrock Gaming has also ordered new keyboards and headsets for the computers, which should be available at the start of the fall quarter.
Free play is available through Sept. 15. After that, prices to play start at $5 per hour for students and $10 per hour for all others.
