Hot off a road win that extended its undefeated streak in conference play, the UC Davis football team returns home to say thank-you to all UC Davis employees by offering two free tickets per person to this weekend’s football game.

The tickets to the Saturday (Nov. 1) contest against Idaho State can be claimed by entering the promo code AGGIESTAFF (or HEALTHAGGIE for UC Davis Health employees) online. Additional tickets can be purchased for $25, or $15 for kids.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium.

Before the game, staff members are invited to the free Staff Assembly tailgate, with hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips and drinks available to all staff members and their families.

The tailgate will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Rec Pool covered picnic area.

Expect traffic due to road closures

The area is humming with construction for the Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation, and part of Hutchison Drive near the stadium is reduced to one lane in each direction. Design and Construction Management is alerting drivers that “heavy congestion is expected on Hutchison Drive between the Health Sciences Drive and La Rue Road intersections, particularly as people leave the game.”

Officials urge fans to take an alternate form of transportation — like a bicycle, scooter or bus — to the game if possible.

A map of the road closures is available online.

Theme, extra entertainment

Once inside the stadium, there will be plenty to see.

The Nov. 1 game will also feature a halftime performance by the UC Davis Marching Band and local high school bands, the culmination of the annual Band Day, where high school musicians spend the day learning from the UC Davis Marching Band.

Make sure to arrive early — entertainment after the first quarter will come in the form of a mini Doxie Derby, with five dogs signed up to race at the time of this publication. This is the fifth time a dachshund race similar to the Picnic Day tradition will be held at a football game.

The game is also part of Parent and Family Weekend.

Can’t wait until Saturday? See the first-place women’s volleyball team face off tonight (Oct. 28) against UC Riverside; the game is also a faculty and staff appreciation game, with two free tickets available using the same promo code: AGGIESTAFF, or HEALTHAGGIE for UC Davis Health employees. That game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the University Credit Union Center.
