There are a lot of changes coming to campus eateries this fall, from breakfast at Latitude to a new menu at Spokes and a construction project at the Coffee House.
When deciding on how to improve dining on campus, Student Housing and Dining Services receives feedback from students through their Text and Tell program, surveys and focus groups. Their emphasis on iterating their menus is inherent to Dining Services' mission statement, “To provide a dining experience that is the least stressful and most enjoyable part of our students’ day.”
One of the new features that such feedback inspired is the addition of breakfast services at the popular Latitude restaurant. "Over the previous academic year, we experienced a consistent high volume of guests during breakfast at Tercero DC, serving the largest residential community on campus," said Felipe Becerra, the director of Residential Dining. "We challenged the Latitude team to expand their hours of service and menu offerings to include a breakfast meal to provide more options for our residents during this popular meal period.”
By examining what could be improved upon and challenging their chefs, the department hopes to create a dining experience that keeps students coming back for more.
Let’s dive into what else is new for campus dining this fall.

Upcoming changes to dining commons
As we continue to reimagine dining on UC Davis’ campus, we are beginning to make changes in the dining commons. Some of the early visible changes are simplified colors to identify platform offerings, new maps and new online menus. These are the first steps, according to Dining Services, with additional changes to come in the next year.

New menu offerings at Scrubs
This fall, Scrubs Cafe will have delicious toasties for sale. Choose between a turkey with brie and fig jam on focaccia, a cubano with citrus pork, ham, gruyere and pickles, or a fungi with portobello, olive spread, provolone and mixed greens on focaccia.

During construction, the Coffee House will be fully open and none of the existing seating will be impacted.
